CAIRO (Reuters) – Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah has won the African Footballer of the Year trophy in 2018 for the second year in a row, the African Football Confederation (CAF) said on Tuesday.

Salah is ahead of his compatriot Sadio Mani and Emyr Obamyang, Arsenal striker in the English Premier League, who won the title in 2015.

The 26-year-old scored 44 goals in all competitions (2017-18) and helped his club reach the Champions League final, scoring two goals for the 2018 World Cup.

Salah was also voted best player of the year by the BBC and was the top scorer in the Gold Ball ranking of the best players in the world.

The Moroccan Ashraf Hakimi, the German striker of Dührer Borussia Dortmund, has been crowned Young Player of the Year in Africa.
