British media reported on Tuesday that Welsh coach and former Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs was arrested for assaulting a woman, before being released on bail.
“The Sun” newspaper said police were called to the home of the 46-year-old former midfielder on Sunday evening after receiving reports of harassment and noise.
The newspaper quoted a statement from Greater Manchester Police: “Police were called at 10 and 5 minutes Sunday evening after reports of harassment. A woman in her 30s was slightly injured, and he turned out to be his girlfriend, but she didn’t need treatment. “
The British newspaper continued: “A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.”
The newspaper said police released Giggs on bail pending further investigations.
The Football Association of Wales has learned of the allegations against Giggs, the national team coach.
“The Welsh Football Association is aware of the involvement of Ryan Giggs, the coach of the men’s national team, in the alleged incident,” he said in a statement.
He continued: “The Welsh Football Association will not be making any further comment at this time.”
Wells was due to announce his squad to face the United States, Ireland and Finland this month on Tuesday, but the announcement has been postponed according to press reports.

This is not the first scandal over Giggs’ relationship with the opposite sex. Earlier news reports have revealed the soccer star’s relationship with his younger brother’s wife for several years, and Giggs’ nephew has been reported to be his biological son.
Giggs has played his professional career with Manchester United, appearing in 672 appearances and scoring 114 goals.
He has won the Premier League title 13 times, four Confederation Cup titles, two European Champions League titles and one Club World Cup title.
Giggs worked for Manchester United’s coaching staff, the ‘Red Devils’ from 2014 to 2016, before taking over in January 2018 as coach of the Welsh national team.
