This topic was written by Sultan Al-Qahtani – Like many smartphone manufacturers, Vivo has its own Android-based interface. It’s called Funtouch OS, and it’s designed to power Vivo phones from years gone by. However, last year Vivo unveiled a new user interface dubbed OriginOS which replaced Funtouch OS for devices sold in China.
Today, Funtouch OS 12 was first unveiled ahead of the global launch of the Vivo X70 range.
There is currently a dedicated Funtouch OS 12 page on the Vivo India website that reveals some of the new features it brings to Vivo phones.
One of the new features of Funtouch OS is the redesigned UI widgets, the design of which appears to have been ported from OriginOS. Widgets are more powerful and Vivo says they should help users be more productive.
Another feature is Nano Music Player which is a kind of mini player to control playing songs from Spotify, Joox or files from your local storage.
Last but not the least is Extended RAM, a feature that is becoming more and more popular on many phones these days. With this feature, the phone allocates part of the ROM (up to 4 GB) to the RAM space so that the applications can run more smoothly.
More details are expected to be revealed on September 22 when Vivo plans to announce the X70 line to the world. We should also get details on which current phones will receive the update and when they will receive it.
