This discovery reinforces the fact that thinness is not related to their diet, but to the genes with which they were born. In recent decades, many studies and researches have shown the relationship between certain genes and weight gain, but they have not studied the genes that help maintain thinness. The researchers therefore compared DNA samples from about 1,600 healthy skinned people in Britain with samples from about 2,000 people suffering from obesity and d? about 10,400 people of normal weight.
The study found that people with obesity increased the likelihood of genes associated with weight gain. Those who were obese, the genes associated with weight gain were weaker and they had a gene that was recently linked to thinness.
