Google has denied allegations that it would have taken steps to weaken the browser, "Microsoft Edge," claiming that the problem was simply a technical error.
It was reported earlier this week that Google deliberately disrupted YouTube to weaken the Microsoft Edge browser in competitive battery life tests.
A spokesperson for YouTube said the platform had not added code designed to hinder the performance of other browsers, adding that work was being done to correct the errors once they had been discovered.
Chrome is now the dominant browser, with Chrome and Chrome now accounting for 80% of the desktop browser market and 9% of Firefox.
