Habib mocks the retreat of his rival

Russian martial arts star Habib Nurmmadov mocked the decision of his Irish rival Connor McGregor to resign abruptly on Tuesday.

"There's only one king in the forest, one," he wrote in a tweet on his personal Twitter account, adding a photo of him with a light belt, showing one with his finger.

Gregoror was humbly beaten by the Russian lightweight fighter in October 2018, the last Irish battle in the UFC.

"The defeat of the king does not make you a king once," wrote one of them.

Nurmmadov's letter was clearly addressed to Gregoror, who calls himself the king, and his decision to withdraw was a shock to many after a second fall with him.

"It's a quick announcement, I decided to retire from the sport called mixed martial arts," Gregor, 30, wrote on his Twitter account.

The famous athlete said he hoped his colleagues would continue their journey, saying he would join veteran athletes who ended their careers earlier.

Gregor is currently ranked eighth in the Mixed Martial Arts Championship, where he won two different weight belts (featherweight and lightweight).
