Al-Marsad Journal: Health Ministry spokesperson Dr Muhammad Al-Abd Al-Aali confirmed that after the first or second dose, the virus can get infected before getting full immunity if precautionary measures are not observed.
Research is in progress
Al-Abd Al-Aali said during his animation of the program “In Public” broadcast on the Saudi channel: “Research is underway to find out how long the vaccine lasts, is it months, a year or more, and there is serious scientific research to follow up. “
Community immunity
He added: “The important thing is that as many community members as possible receive the vaccine, in order to achieve community immunity at a rate that allows society to safely resume normal life, and the question of how long this immunity lasts for members of the community and the need to renew and revitalize it later is a matter for consideration.
Infection after administration
He continued, “I pay attention to a very important point, some community members think that after taking the dose, they can do anything without being bound by the precautionary conditions, and that is not correct, because whoever took the first dose should sit for two to three weeks until they reach a level close to 50% immunity levels, then after the second dose it takes one to two weeks until this achieves a high level of immunity which makes it safe and much less likely to get infected with the virus.
He explained that exposure to infection, whether after the first or second dose, is theoretically and practically present and known around the world, stressing that if it achieves the required level of immunity, it is very rare to get infected.
