Dynamo St. Petersburg ice hockey team defender Timur Weizotdinov died aged 19 after 4 days in a coma after a game disc collided in the head during a match.
Dinamo St. Petersburg said in a statement: “Our defender Timur Vaisutdinov passed away today (Tuesday). The club expresses its condolences to family and friends in Timor.”
Vyzotdinov suffered a serious head injury during a match between his team and host Yaroslavl on the 12th of this month, in the competitions of the Russian Youth Ice Hockey League.
A player from the Yaroslavl team hit the disc hard, to hit Vizotdinov in the carotid artery (which is one of the main arteries emerging from the aortic arch, which runs down the side of the neck to supply the head and brain bleeding), and fell to the ground, holding his head, before losing consciousness, to be taken to the hospital in the city of Yaroslavl.
He was put on a respirator, but he breathed his last 4 days after the accident.
And Vyzotdinov, he started this season as the captain of Dynamo, with whom he played around 200 matches.
