Hong Kong Galaxy Fold sellers get more money from Samsung

Galaxy Fold ---

A few days ago, we showed you that some Galaxy Fold fans in South Korea were willing to pay extra money for the device. They could not place their orders in advance because they were exhausting quickly, which the sellers took advantage of by requesting $ 500 more for the Galaxy Fold. However, the situation seems to be good in South Korea compared to the Hong Kong black market.

According to a new Forbes magazine report, retailers in Hong Kong appear to sell Galaxy Fold phones at around $ 4,855. That's more than double the original price of the $ 2,000 phone. That's almost the price of both Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Note 10 handsets combined.

Until now, the Galaxy Fold has only been officially launched in South Korea. Obviously, the units sold in Hong Kong at a higher price are not sold by Samsung, but by the suppliers who received the phone as part of the first batch on sale in South Korea. It has been reported that Samsung has so far shipped between 1000 and 2000 units of the Galaxy Fold phone only in South Korea.

Scarcity can create a demand and, in this case, Samsung can not keep up. However, aside from the limited offer and the many surprises regarding the Galaxy Fold, Samsung does not benefit much from the units sold on the black market in Hong Kong or elsewhere.

It is important to create problems with the product when it is launched, but we do not expect anyway that Samsung manufactures Galaxy Fold in very large quantities. The device is already in high demand and probably enough to fully cover the Galaxy Fold product lines. After all, some fans seem willing to spend nearly $ 5,000 to adopt the Galaxy Fold earlier.

The situation will probably change once the Galaxy Fold has reached more markets on September 18th. However, Galaxy Fold will remain relatively rare, so it will be interesting to know for how long the resale prices will remain high. How much do you want to pay more for Galaxy Fold?
