Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah asserted that “the unsuccessful attempts to target the Houthis are aimed at the nerve center of the world economy.”
Prince Faisal bin Farhan said Wednesday at a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Riyadh: “We renew our support to achieve a political solution to the crisis in Yemen”.
He also stressed that “there must be a firm international stance against the Houthi attacks”, noting that “there is widespread international condemnation of the attack on the port of Ras Tanura”.
In addition, he added, “the priority in Yemen is to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire”, stressing that “the coalition stopped firing unilaterally in Yemen about a year ago”.
He explained that “the international community has a great responsibility to put pressure on the Houthis”.

Extension of the arms embargo against Iran
Prince Faisal bin Farhan also said that “the United Nations should extend the imposition of the arms embargo on Iran”.
He said: “We stress the importance for Iran not to have nuclear weapons.”
In addition, he announced that Saudi Arabia values its strategic alliance with Russia.
He stressed: “We will support all efforts to achieve stability in Syria”.
The importance of stability in the Gulf
For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that his country’s relations with Saudi Arabia are rooted in various fields.
Lavrov said: “We have a common interest with Saudi Arabia to fight the Corona pandemic.”
He also underlined the importance of stability in the Arab Gulf, expressing Moscow’s concern over the development of the situation in Yemen.

He explained: “We will work to prevent the world economy from being affected by high oil prices.”
In addition, he added, “Russia is committed to the unity and independence of the Syrian territories”.
It should be noted that the Houthi militia has stepped up its attempts in recent days to target civilian and economic property in the Kingdom.
These attempts have led to the condemnation of several Arab and Western countries, which have underlined their support for the Kingdom and its security, denouncing the terrorist attacks of the Houthis.
