Harmony OS is a complete operating system capable of handling smartphones, laptops, wearable devices, smart TVs, smartphones and even cars, according to media reports.
The system will be open source Ark Compiler and will handle several programming languages, such as C / C ++, Java and Kotlin, and Huawei will provide an application development package running on different devices. Harmony will support the running of existing Android applications.
The company is about to launch the operating system on smart TVs and will be available on laptops and wearable devices next year. With regard to smartphones, Huawei will only use its operating system if it is not allowed to use Android.
Huawei has equipped its system with security features, including a reliable implementation environment on all devices, to preserve data security, regardless of the platform on which it operates. In addition, Huawei will not allow Root for security reasons.
Although the new operating system can make smartphones work as an alternative to Android, Huawei seems not wanting to achieve this goal, but it is closer to the operating system developed by Google called Fuchsia and can handle several different platforms.
Huawei recently announced that he was working on his own HongMeng system (Hong Meng or Ship) since 2012 as an alternative plan in case of obstacles, including those who have faced Huawei. Google recently removed the license for Huawei's "Android" system.
The United States issued a decree banning the use of Huawei equipment in the United States and put them on the list of US companies posing a threat and preventing the sale of technological equipment, out of fear that Beijing is exploiting it for espionage purposes, followed by US President Donald Trump last June to sell Huawei phones in his country.
