The digital travel permit, currently in the testing phase, was to be launched by the end of March.

Kamel Al-Awadi, IATA’s regional vice president for Africa and the Middle East, said the app is expected to launch on the Apple platform around April 15 and later on the platform. Android.

“But the app will only achieve success when it is used by airlines, various countries and airports,” Al-Awadi said.

British company Virgin Atlantic Airways announced on Friday that it would test the IATA application on the London-Barbados route from April 16.

Barbados said it would accept the permit at its borders, becoming one of the first countries to accept a digital permit instead of paper documents.

Iata says the travel permit will help speed up the registration processes.

Al-Awadi revealed that “a large number of airlines have applied to join to use the app.”
