Iraq, represented by Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim, will chair the 152nd regular session of the Arab League Council at ministerial level.
Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahaf told "Sputnik" that Iraq will assume the presidency of the meeting from the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim is scheduled to speak before a joint conference with Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Participants will discuss a number of topics and agenda items aimed at developing common positions on the problems of the region, especially Arab issues.
The meeting aims to highlight the importance of ending crises in the region and supporting counterterrorism efforts.
The meeting will take place Tuesday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
