Iraqi protesters stormed the Karbala governorate building amid clashes with security forces, according to Sky News Arabia, in an urgent news broadcast Saturday night.

The channel said the protesters had set fire to the Badr militia headquarters. Iraqi security authorities have announced a curfew in the province.

Earlier in the day, Iraqi riot police dispersed protesters attempting to storm the headquarters of the "Asaib Ahl al-Haq" militia in Najaf province. Electricity has been cut across the province and the curfew has been declared.

Iraqi demonstrations began in Basra, southern Iraq, a week ago, to protest against unemployment and poor services, before extending to several provinces
