The Ministry of Public Health has placed among its priorities the organization of clinical research conducted on humans through the signing of a cooperation agreement with the World Health Organization, to support the National Register of Clinical Research, a national and regional achievement. This record is the first of its kind in the Arab world and 18 worldwide. The ministry has been working on its preparation since 2012 under the supervision of the Director General, Walid Ammar.

In 2016, the Ministry of Public Health issued a regulatory decision regarding the recognition of research ethics boards in accordance with international standards.
Finally, the ministry has adopted an electronic program that allows applicants to enroll in clinical studies to enter the required information remotely and in the expectation of electronic approval of their registration in the national registry , which started on December 1, 2018. After only 7 months, the Lebanese registry has been accredited. Lebanon becomes the first country in the Arab region to have a record of major clinical research, the 18th in the world, allowing Lebanon to play a leading role in research.
