Jeddah Health said – in a statement on its website – that the patient has a crack in the wall of the aorta above the heart, and this crack extends to include the entire aorta in the patient’s body to ‘until she hit her legs with a stressful pool of blood around her heart.
After carrying out the necessary x-rays and analyzes, the medical team decided to perform an emergency and qualitative operation, replacing the entire ascending aorta by the placement of a stent for the curved aorta with connection of cerebral arteries.
Jeddah Health added that the operation lasted 12 hours and during the operation the cardiac surgeons were able to separate the patient’s heart and lungs from the bloodstream and prevent the heart and lungs from functioning until the end. of the surgery, and all the patient’s blood was removed from his body after cooling the body to a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, and that to maintain the integrity of the body parts during the bloodless period to l inside the patient’s body, while maintaining blood supply to the brain only to maintain the integrity of the health of brain tissue during the cooling period, which lasted two and a half hours.
The medical team replaced the curved artery and connected the cerebral arteries, and two weeks after the operation, the patient recovered and gradually began to walk until he left the complex in good health.
