Japanese captain: The first half against Qatar was a surprise for us

DUBAI, May 25 (Reuters) – Japanese captain Maya Yuchida declined to comment on the shot on goal in the final, as the team won 3-1.

In a brief interview with reporters after the match, Uchida said the first period was a bit of a surprise for Japanese players, adding that Qatari players were playing fast and tense.

"We had to be more aggressive, we made mistakes, the match was a disappointment for us," Yoshida said.

"The team has to look ahead and learn from their mistakes," he said, "there is the Copa America in the summer, then the qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup are going to start and the day will come. Japanese team must be ready.
