MILAN (Reuters) – Juventus won the Champions League this summer in the United States, fearing a possible trial for Cristiano Ronaldo, the New York Times announced on Thursday.
The organizers of most of the US summer games have decided to play Juventus off the mainland because Ronaldo had been indicted by a former model, Katherine Mayorga, for raping her in Las Vegas in 2009 to avoid being arrested by the US police.

The New York Times revealed that "Juventus would likely play in China and Singapore" against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
"Playing in Asia is normal after previous seasons in the United States," said a spokesman for the Italian club Firas Press.
Juventus has confirmed its participation in the Champions Cup, which should be announced on March 27.
Last year, Mallorca filed a lawsuit in Las Vegas, accusing Ronaldo of having raped on June 13, 2009 in his hotel room and urging him to sign a financial agreement to remain silent about what happened.
Ronaldo firmly denies the charges.
Ronaldo joined Juventus last summer from Real Madrid for a contract worth 100 million euros.

In nine months, the Portuguese have again joined his country to lead it against Ukraine on Friday, then against Serbia on Monday in the second group of the European Cup to qualify for the Cup of Nations. Europe 2020. (AFP)
