Launch of “electronic clinics for mental health”

The Emirates Corporation for Health Services has revealed the development of the Community Mental Health Excellence Services Project by launching a number of innovative initiatives, including: the launch of the Network of Online Community Mental Health Clinics for Al-Amal hospital for mental health in health care centers, which aims to provide comprehensive psychological services close to the patient’s home.

In order to keep pace with the global trend of integrating mental health services into primary health care and providing outpatient and remote psychological care, a systematic plan has been developed to implement the project, starting with the ‘development of a service policy to ensure security, confidentiality and quality. in accordance with international best practice, providing the necessary infrastructure and resources, and working to activate several clinics in a number of primary health care centers in: Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and others Emirates.

The total number of home visits was approximately 2,480 from 2018 to 2020, for service recipients in the Emirate of Dubai and northern regions, including 160 visits to serve crisis response teams in cooperation with the competent authorities. While the number of psychological consultations via the telephone helpline for psychological consultations from April 2020 to the end of August last reached approximately 4,682 psychological consultations.

Dr Yousef Mohammed Al Serkal, Managing Director of the UAE Health Services Foundation, stressed the concern to develop a comprehensive and integrated range of mental health services in response to client needs and community oriented.

Dr Noor Al Muhairi, director of the mental health department, explained that the Foundation has made great efforts in recent years to develop, strengthen and expand the reach of mental health services.

Dr Amna Turki Al Ali, Director of Al-Amal Mental Health Hospital, stressed the importance of promotional, therapeutic and rehabilitative community mental health services to achieve social empowerment.
