Professor Rodiger Hilker has stated that the characteristic symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as trembling hands and slow movement, are not the main symptoms of this disease, known as "paralyzing paralysis".
The German neurologist pointed out that the main symptoms of Parkinson's disease are sleep disorders, a decrease in the sense of smell and mood swings. The doctor should be consulted as soon as these symptoms are observed frequently and for no apparent reason.
He added that Parkinson's disease is a degenerative disease that affects the central nervous system and negatively affects the motor system.
Although Parkinson's disease can not be cured, early diagnosis can help control problems with medications, for example, and other treatments such as physical therapy and occupational therapy.
Occupational therapy is designed to address the life skills of people with physical, neurological or cognitive problems by developing and restoring their abilities as before, or by preventing them from rolling back and deteriorating.
