US Treasury Secretary Steve Menuchin gave assurances on the independence of the Federal Reserve, which is preparing to hold two-day monetary policy meetings and is expected to maintain interest rates unchanged without the boom of the US economy.
In an interview with Fox Sunday, Menuchin described the performance of the US economy as being on the road to rapid and sustainable growth, after growing 4.1 percent in the second quarter.
But he was also forced to dispel the concerns raised by President Donald Trump's recent remarks about the Fed's measures to raise rates.
"We, as management, absolutely support the independence of the Federal Reserve, and the President has clearly said," he said, "Let's be clear: he fully respects the independence of the Federal Reserve. "
US presidents generally follow the reluctance to resume the work of the US central bank in public statements, but that did not stop Trump from criticizing earlier this month.
Trump said in an interview with CNBC on July 20, "I do not like doing all this work in the economy, and then I see interest rates going up. "
