LG has acquired brand rights for a number of features that will come from its new LG G8 ThinQ smartphone, which will be launched later in April, such as contactless orders and its innovative voice experience.
The seven trademarks filed with the European Intellectual Property Office (EIPO) indicate many technologies to be included in the G8 ThinQ, which was opened Friday at prices of US $ 819.99, with many promotional offers .
For example, three brands refer to the new OLED speaker technology, Crystal Sound, which uses the display as a speaker. Therefore, LG has registered trademarks such as Audio Display, Display Sound and LG Magic Speaker. Trademark documents use the same description for the three names: "OLED displays acting as amplifiers and speakers".
The LG Z Lens, which specializes in the front camera of the phone, also uses the technology of the ToF lens while offering better face recognition and the possibility of using augmented reality applications. LG Face Code, the name of the feature that allows users to unlock the phone with the help of face recognition, is also a trademark. The front camera with this function performs a 3D scan of the face.
At the same time, the company decided to acquire brand rights on behalf of LG Air Click in order to refer to the possibility of interacting with its smartphones by manual gestures, which LG called Air Motion during a previous phone presentation. The latest brand name is LG 3D Eye, a feature that allows the phone to recognize "shape, thickness and other characteristics of the veins of the user", according to the brand documents. The palm rest is another way to unlock the G8 ThinQ phone lock, thanks to the 3D Eye.
