Liverpool won the European Super Cup for the fourth time in its history, after a 5-4 shootout win over Chelsea on Wednesday at the Vodafone Arena in Istanbul, in the heart of Besiktas.
The match ended on its initial time and extra time drew 2-2, scoring Sadio Mane's double in Liverpool, while Chelsea scored Ole Giro and Jorginho on the penalty spot.
Chelsea opened the scoring with French striker Olivier Giroud (36) before Senegal's Sadio Mane equalized early in the second period, then the same player added Liverpool 95's second goal and Chelsea matched by the Italian Jorginho (101 penalty).
It was the first time this match between two English teams after Liverpool's win in the Champions League last season and Chelsea, European Champion (Europa League).
