Liverpool coach, Juergen Klopp, admitted that his team had the chance to improve its Premier League record by more than the point it had scored after a draw with Manchester United.
Liverpool, at the top of the standings, missed a valuable opportunity to extend the gap with their closest rival, Manchester City, to three points, a gap of just one point from yesterday's game.
In the first period, United was forced to exhaust all available changes to replace three injured players, but managed to thwart Liverpool's underdeveloped efforts.
"At the time United is vulnerable to defeat, you have to do it," he told Sky Sports.
"We did not play fast, we were hoping to do better, United scored a point and everyone thought we could have done more."
"The appointments were for Manchester United before the match, then everything changed and suddenly we were able to win," he said, "people thought we could win and if we did not, there was something something that was wrong with us.
The first half saw four changes. United lost to André Herrera and Juan Mata, as well as Jesse Lingard, injured after leaving Mata.
Liverpool also lost the injury to Brazilian striker Roberto Fermino, replaced by Daniel Storridge.
"It was a strange match, we started well, all the injuries of the match affected our pace, Fermino came out injured and it was a disaster," he said.
"My players were not well, I could see it on their faces, I thought, what's going on here?"
"The game lacked exciting moments, it was smothered."

Liverpool hopes not to lose Fermino's chances for a long time, but will play important league games against Watford, Everton and Burnley over the next two weeks, before the crucial standings against Bayern Munich in the final leg of the Champions League. The first leg ended in a draw in Liverpool.
In the Premier League, Liverpool will travel to Everton for a very hot match in March. He will then host Tottenham and Chelsea at Anfield.
Manchester City will host Tottenham and will travel to Manchester United at Old Trafford in April.

Liverpool waits for Salah's return to the score
Since Liverpool's only defeat in the league this season against Manchester City on Jan. 3, they have been tied in three games against Leicester City, West Ham and Manchester United.
"It's 100% true that there have been a lot of exchanges during the last period, but we are still where we are (at the top of the ranking)," he said.
"United have a good time but there are 14 or 15 points left of us, the good news today is that it has not changed."
Liverpool also hopes that Mohammed Salah will be able to score points in future matches, especially during major clashes. Salah has only once scored this season in the top six of the standings (last December against Arsenal).
When asked why Salah had not scored goals, Klob said, "I do not know."
"I'm here to help the players, they want to play 100%, but that does not always happen."
"Mo knows he can play better than he did today, we know he can."
