LONDON (Reuters) – Liverpool beat Bayern Munich 3-1 on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena in the second round of the Champions League.

Bayern Munich:

Liverpool Formation:

Senegal's Sadeo Manet (26, 84) and Dutchman Virgil Van Dyck (69) scored Liverpool's 1-0 win against Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. The final for the first time since 2011, and the fate of his compatriots Borussia Dortmund and Schalke, from Tottenham and Citi Tualia.

This is the first time that four English clubs have qualified for the quarterfinals of the continental competition since the 2008-2009 season.

– First victory out of rules after 4 defeats –

Liverpool deserved to win because it was the best team, especially in the second half and had won its first game after four straight defeats in the round of 16, the first against Rome in the return leg last season and three times in phase of groups this season.

German coach Jurgen Klopp has brought his Bavarian team to 10 in 31 matches. He was the coach of his current team and former team Mainz and Borussia Dortmund for 16 defeats and 5 draws.

He was the best of his days against Bayern when he coached Dortmund between 2008 and 2015, scoring 4 wins and 4 losses in nine visits to the Bavarian club.

He was victorious from his last visit to the Allianz Arena in April 2015, when Dortmund had won the shootout in the semi-finals of the German Cup.

By contrast, Bayern Munich lost its first home win at the last price since 2011, after a defeat against Inter Milan 2-3, and also dropped for the last time from the role of 16.

The Bavarian team has not managed to maintain the presence of a German team in the quarter-finals since the 2005-2006 season.
