MANCHESTER, United Arab Emirates (Reuters) – Manchester United announced Tuesday the departure of Portugal coach Jose Mourinho, who thanked him for his coaching career.
"We would like to thank him for his work during his stay in Manchester United," he said.
Manchester United also wished Mourinho's "future success" and said a temporary coach would run the club until the end of the season.
In the last match under Mourinho, Liverpool defeated hosts and traditional rivals Manchester United 3-1 to regain the Premier League title against Manchester City.
