The “WhatsApp”, “Facebook” and “Instagram” applications around the world ceased to function this evening, Monday, registering a generalized outage, which affected at least tens of millions of users, according to a specialized site.
The Downtracker site reported that the services of the three social networks were interrupted in densely populated areas, including Washington and Paris. This also includes Israel.
Users of the apps reported that they were not able to send instant messages easily, while other users reported experiencing communication issues in the apps. Some have indicated that the transmission time, which does not exceed seconds under normal conditions, has doubled, due to the fault.
Other app users said they were never able to send instant messages, for a period of at least 10 minutes, at least, especially in the “WhatsApp” app.
When entering “WhatsApp”, the phrase “Connection” appears constantly and it is not possible to receive or send messages, while in “Instagram” the application could not update updated the data and it was not possible to completely enter “Facebook”.
Facebook said in a brief statement that it apologized for the issue and said it is working to resolve it. “We understand that some have difficulty accessing our applications and products,” company spokesperson Andy Stone wrote on Twitter.
And the messaging platform “WhatsApp” affiliated with “Facebook”, announced that its application would cease to work on a group of old smartphones, from November 1st.
