The famous McDonald’s restaurant chain plans to significantly reduce its use of plastic in toys served with children’s meals (Happy Meal) around the world by 2025.
The burger giant announced that it is “working with game companies to develop new ideas, like making 3D cardboard toys that kids can make, or board games using wooden or recycled parts.”
He added that he is also studying the use of recycled plastic toys to make Happy Meal boxes and plates for his restaurants.
McDonald’s did not say how many baby meals it sells each year, but said its goal is to reduce plastic use by 90% from 2018 levels.
McDonald’s restaurants in the UK and Ireland began to serve only toys and other card games or books.
Burger King has also removed plastic toys from children’s meals in the UK since 2019.
