As people get older, it is normal for their ability to remember to be affected, but some experts recommend simple steps to keep memory strong despite the passage of time. A study published in the journal Neurology shows that people who work hard and exercise better maintain their memory capacity. Researchers at the American Academy of Neuroscience, based on a sample of 454 participants in recent years, included 191 patients with dementia and 263 unaffected individuals.
After the death of these participants, the scientists examined the tissues of their brain and the impressive results of this process allowed people on the move to keep the brain in a better state.
Researcher Aaron Bushman, co-author of the study, said the movement plays an important role in maintaining memory and thinking skills when dementia symptoms appear in the brain.
According to Bushman, the benefits of movement and exercise are not just about avoiding obesity and organic diseases, but also about memory capabilities, something that has never been noticed.
But a researcher at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is asking for more studies on the subject, as it is also likely that some people will stop exercising because of their dementia and mental decline.
