Microsoft has made major changes to the implementation of feature updates for Windows XP, starting with Windows 10 May 2019.
The company plans to start offering the update to the labs next week, before releasing it widely in late May.
The update brings a number of features such as the new lighting mode, support for the Japanese emoticons Kaomoji, the Windows sandbox feature and the separation of its audio assistant Cortana from Windows Search.
Microsoft also allows home and business users of its Home and Pro operating system to discontinue functionality and monthly updates up to 35 days.
The company explained that it would send an alert stating that the update is available and recommended based on its data, but that it is largely up to the user to initiate the update .
All customers now have the option to choose whether they want to update their devices when checking for updates or temporarily disable them for up to 35 days.
It also offers a smart active clock feature allowing the operating system to detect the time of use of the computer, so that updates are not installed during operation.
