Apple has announced the selection of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as the seat of its developer academy, in a move the company is taking for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa.
According to the Saudi press agency, “SPA”, the first phase of the academy’s operations will focus on female programmers and developers, in support of women’s empowerment efforts.
Apple is establishing its academy in partnership with the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones, which is represented by Tuwaiq Academy, in cooperation with Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University.
“Today, in cooperation with our strategic partner, the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones, represented by Tuwaiq Academy, we are pleased to announce the launch of the first Apple Developer Academy at Princess Nourah University. Bint Abdulrahman, which is the largest university in the world, ”said the president of the university, Dr. Enas Al-Issa.
For his part, the chairman of the board of directors of the Federation and Tuwaiq Academy, Faisal Al-Khamisi, said that the academy will provide tools and training for women entrepreneurs, developers and designers who aspire to create start-ups and to create many jobs in the field of iOS applications.
He pointed out that the academy will focus on programming, business and marketing applications, design and professional skills.
“With our partnership with Apple, we will work together and strive to create a business ecosystem to instill skills that enhance innovation and technology,” Al-Khamisi said.
Communications and Information Technology Minister Abdullah Al-Sawaha also thanked the Academy for choosing Saudi Arabia to become its first seat in the Middle East and North Africa, and he also thanked the local partners.
Other Apple Academy campuses are located in several countries, including the United States, Brazil, Italy, South Korea, and Indonesia.
