A new study suggests eating a lot of hamburgers, pizzas, cookies and cakes.
The study of nearly 45,000 middle-aged people revealed that deaths from heart disease, cancer and other diseases were linked to the consumption of "over-the-top" foods. processed, "according to Daily Daily.
These include potato chips, white bread, prepared foods, sausages, sweetened cereals, soft drinks and any industrial product.
Previous research has shown that these high-fat, low-fiber foods cause high blood pressure and cancer, but the new study is the first of its kind to study the risk of consuming these foods to increase the number of deaths.
"Super-processed foods contain many ingredients and the nutritional properties of these foods can partly explain the evolution of chronic noncommunicable diseases among their consumers," said Laure Schnabel, co-author of Epidemiology at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
In addition to containing a higher concentration of total fat, saturated fat and added sugars, many fast food products contain legal but controversial additions, such as sodium nitrite and titanium dioxide.
Artificial sweeteners, commonly found in snacks, are suspected of altering intestinal bacteria, increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes and other metabolic diseases, leading causes of premature death.
And with the consumption of large amounts of these foods over time, they can lead to chronic and life-threatening diseases.
"The consumption of processed foods has increased dramatically in recent decades and could result in an increasing number of deaths from infectious diseases," said Dr. Schnabel.
Higher consumption of these foods was associated with a younger age, lower income and education, life alone, high BMI and less physical activity.
