The Union of Actors of Theater, Radio and Cinema of North Lebanon clarified in a statement today, Thursday, its position on this issue, stressing that honoring Ramadan was official and that the artist deserved this honor. .

The union statement said: “In response to the scheduled electronic campaign against the International ‘Afzal’ Festival led by Mazen Nouri, and about honoring Egyptian actor and singer, star Mohamed Ramadan, we, the Union of theater, radio and film actors in northern Lebanon, participated in the sponsorship of the ceremony in the person of Captain Abdel Rahman. Al-Shami, and we confirm that this honor was official and our participation with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture in Lebanon is an indication of the successful pioneering role of the festival, and that Arab Youth Ambassador, star Mohammed Ramadan, was worthy of this honor and therefore needed clarification.

For his part, Ramadan posted the statement on his official Instagram account and attached it with a comment: “Thank you, the Union of Interim Professions and the Lebanese Ministry of Culture for the clarification.

It is reported that the artist has also been accused of paying him for an honorary doctorate. He told one of the Lebanese channels at the time: “I don’t need to pay to buy a doctorate, and whoever does is someone who seeks fame and hopes people will talk about him. . “

It should be noted that a state of controversy arose in the context of Muhammad Ramadan’s recent visit to Lebanon, after he posted a photo on his pages on social media sites showing him receiving a doctorate. honorary of the German International Cultural Center in Lebanon for playing and singing performance, in addition to giving him the title of Arab Youth Ambassador.

However, the German Embassy in Cairo and the Syndicate of Artists in Lebanon were quick to respond. The embassy denied Germany’s relations with the cultural center which awarded Ramadan an honorary doctorate, while the union issued a statement in which it disowned honoring Ramadan and granting him the title of “youth ambassador. Arab”.

The center then withdrew the honorary doctorate in Ramadan.
