Mujerini expresses satisfaction with the convening of the first Euro-Arab summit

Federica Mujerini, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, said she was satisfied with the first Arab-European summit that opened on Sunday in Sharm el-Sheikh.

In a statement to reporters on the sidelines of the summit, Mugherini said the summit was to be held during the EU-Arab League ministerial meeting held in Cairo in 2016, stressing that the Arab region was the only one in the world, C & # 39; a paradox because we are very close and we share many challenges and opportunities.

Mujerini hoped that the summit would address all these issues in a positive spirit, noting that both parties would disagree, as it is normal between friends and partners.

She emphasized that security must be sustainable, which includes human rights, good governance and the rule of law, as well as economic development and opportunities for young people in particular.

She expressed the hope that the Summit would be able to focus on partnership, including in the economic field, as well as on joint action, such as peace between Israel and Palestine, peace between Israel and Israel. and the Arab world and the promotion of a two-state solution, but I also hope for a common approach to the conflict.
