NASA plans to send a probe to the asteroid "Palada", the largest asteroid in our solar system

NASA is studying the possibility of sending a probe to the asteroid "Palada" and will make a decision in mid-April, Space.com announced Thursday.

The distance that separates the asteroid located inside the Cooper belt from the sun is 2.4 times greater than the distance that separates the Earth from the sun, said the electronic portal.

The diameter of the asteroid is 512 kilometers. It is one of the largest asteroids in our solar system after the asteroid "Vista". It was discovered in 1802, when it was thought to be a planet until the middle of the 19th century.

If the decision to fund the project is made, the 180-kilogram probe will reach the orbit of the asteroid in 2022, two years after its launch, after being modified and accelerated by the severity of Mars. The probe will take a detailed picture of the surface of the asteroid.
