A group of trained space physicists discovered a new "habitable planet" at 226 light-years from Earth, almost double the size of the Earth, according to the British Daily Star newspaper.

Trained scientists have discovered the discovery using NASA's Kepler telescope, but it's surprising that the far outer planet revolves around a pale red dwarf star inside its habitable zone. .

"It's a very exciting discovery because of the way it was found and its moderate orbit, and because planets of this size seem relatively rare," said Adina Weinstein, the main author of the study.

Last year, Feinstein was part of an astronomical team, but the team had to cross several times to classify the planet.

The Kepler telescope missed the data because of minor changes during its relocation to space, but co-author Joshua Schlider explained that all data from the first campaigns had been re-run through modified programs and then resumed search from a list of candidates.

"The human eye exam is essential because noise and other astrophysical events can mimic transit," he said.
