NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – The probability of a collision between an asteroid, a meteorite and the Earth increases over time, especially with regard to asteroids, which represent a major risk for us, reveals a new study.
Scientists say this opportunity has nearly doubled over the past 290 million years. Although the figure suggests fear, the US space agency, NASA, says that there is nothing to worry about. We are talking about the possibility that maybe all the millions of years will come.
More recently, scientists have discovered a 1.3 km asteroid whose orbit has eroded 861 years in total, which is a real disaster, but very unlikely, at least in the near future.
The atmosphere of our planet and the movement of tectonic plates such as earthquakes and volcanoes make it very difficult to study the history of these types of collisions on the surface of the Earth. This is why scientists go to the surface of the Moon, as it forms an imprint at the foot of various meteorological collisions ranging from meteorite stones of only a few centimeters to several kilometers of kokicot.
