On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised a series of agreements to normalize diplomatic relations that his country had recently concluded with three Arab countries, namely Sudan, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Using maps, Netanyahu said Israel had broken its isolation and could now reach anywhere in the world in less time and affordably. He said his country was “changing the map of the Middle East” and confirmed that many countries would soon join this agreement.
The prime minister said Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu, in a Hebrew-language televised statement, said on Saturday that the normalization agreements with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan ended the geographic isolation his country suffered, shortened the duration of flights and reduced their costs. Netanyahu estimated that Tel Aviv “is changing the map of the Middle East”, using graphics that show the flight route.
Netanyahu said that flights through Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates would save passengers traveling to India and other Asian destinations “to save hours and of course a lot of money.”
Sudan has become the third Arab country since August to announce the normalization of relations with Israel, after the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Netanyahu had met Sudanese General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in Uganda earlier this year.
Netanyahu confirmed that other countries will normalize their relations with Israel. Saudi Arabia does not have official relations with the Jewish state, but it now allows flights from it to pass through the kingdom’s airspace.
The Israeli prime minister said that rapprochement with Sudan would be beneficial for Israelis who want to cross the Atlantic.
“We can fly west over Sudan according to the agreements we made before the announcement of normalization, (and) over Chad, with which we have established relations with Brazil and the Latin America, ”he said.
“Israel was completely isolated … Israel is in contact with the whole world today,” Netanyahu added.
