New Zealand recorded the first death linked to the Pfizer vaccine to prevent the Corona virus on Monday.
This was announced by the Department of Health after an independent Covid-19 vaccine safety oversight committee examined the circumstances of a woman’s death after receiving the vaccine, without revealing her age, according to Reuters.
The ministry said in a statement that the committee considered the woman’s death to be caused by myocarditis, known to be one of the few side effects of the Pfizer vaccine.
Referral to coroner
She also pointed out that “this is the first case in New Zealand where the death occurred a few days after being vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine for Covid-19”, noting that the case has been referred to the medical examiner and that the cause of death has not yet been determined.
However, the independent commission considered that the myocarditis may have been caused by the vaccination, and also indicated that there are other medical problems that occur at the same time and may have an effect after the vaccination.
