The head of the Afaq Space Science Company in Taif, Dr Sharaf Al-Sufyani, revealed that a unique astronomical phenomenon occurred at dawn on (Monday) December 14, when numerous “downpours” of meteors fell towards Earth.
Al-Sufyani explained that these showers reached around 120 meteors during their peak, indicating according to “Previously”, that this is due to the remains of the famous comet “Pithon”, which was discovered in 1983.
He pointed out that the earth attracts these crumbs and remnants that burn in the atmosphere to cause a large meteor storm, indicating that the association will allow those who wish to monitor this phenomenon from the city of Taif.
