Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz resigned from his coaching post in Iran following the bid farewell to the 2019 Asia Cup, organized by the United Arab Emirates.
Iran lost the 2019 Nations Cup of Nations after a 3-0 defeat against Japan in the semifinals.
In his speech at the press conference that followed the match, Queiroz quoted a famous Frank Sinatra song to announce his departure: "The end is now over".
The Portuguese coach stressed his great happiness and pride in the technical level demonstrated by the Iranian team under his artistic direction.
Kirosh, 65, took up his duties as Iran coach in 2011 and was hoping to lead the team to his first continental title since 1976.
