The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SAUDA) has announced the start of compulsory registration of products on the Saber platform as of next month with the following regulations: Gulf Technical Regulations for Electrical Appliances Low Voltage, Gulf Technical Regulations for Children's Games and Technical Regulations for Lubricating Oils.
The Commission stressed that conformity assessment bodies should cease issuing COC certificates as from 15-03-2019 and that certificates other than Saber's certificates would be abolished as of 01-04-2019, while shipments accompanied by COC certificates issued before 15-03-2019 only.
Saber is an electronic platform that allows the local merchant and plant to issue electronic delivery certificates for imported or locally manufactured consumer goods destined for the Saudi market to protect establishments and consumers of products. and counterfeit products, reduce the release time of products and speed up procedures. Issuance of certificates of conformity of goods, related to the services of the General Authority of Customs, the Authority for Standards and Metrology and Quality, the Ministry of Trade and Investment and Evaluation Bodies of compliance.
