Dr Abdullah Al-Fakhri, consultant urologist and urologist, confirmed that 80% of stone cases are in men, explaining the reasons for this.
He explained, during his interview with the program “120” on the Al-Ekhbariya channel, that the incidence of stones in men is more due to several factors, in particular the fact that men are more exposed to the sun and to dehydration, and that they are more likely to eat red meat and protein in general.
Regarding bottled water, Al-Fakhri said that several studies conducted in the Kingdom have found that the quality of water in general does not affect the risk of kidney stones, but it is the amounts that affect mainly that.
The consultant confirmed that drinking 2-3 liters of water throughout the day helps reduce the chances of developing kidney stones for everyone.
He said drinks with minerals and pigments, such as sweet, non-fresh juices, mainly help increase the risk of developing kidney stones.
