The Public Transport Authority (PTA) on Thursday gave new truck owners a one-month delay starting April 1, before starting to install truck tracking devices, weighing their weights and forcing the different carriers to use them.

For his part, the Chairman of the Authority, Rumih bin Mohammed Al Rumaih, said that the decision to install mandatory monitoring and weight measurement devices in trucks would help to improve the level of safety, the efficiency and quality of service and control, as well as maintaining the quality of roads and reducing overloads.

Al-Sahli also indicated that the list of approved companies would be periodically updated, adding that the Authority allowed these companies to apply to TRA for qualification, while allowing operators with their own connect directly to the Wasel platform by direct contact with the TRA.
