The General Civil Aviation Authority has announced the start of the reception of international flights at the Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Al-Ula, after meeting all operational requirements in accordance with international standards and the measure the needs of the competent authorities operating at the airport.
She explained that since August 2019, the airport has witnessed a number of development projects that the authority has implemented in cooperation with the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate to keep pace with the expected growth of air traffic in the region as a global destination, and in line with Vision 2030.
She added that the development work included doubling the capacity from 100,000 to 400,000 passengers per year, while the total area of the airport reached about 2.4 million square meters.
She pointed out that the airport includes several facilities and services, including the executive lounge, which has been designed according to the latest international standards, with an increase in the capacity of the aircraft yard to be among the 10 largest airports in the Kingdom with an area of 49 thousand square meters, accommodating 15 commercial aircraft.
