Rimas Bint Salih al-Barqi, a student in a secondary school in Al-Leith governorate, invented a chemical compound that could be used as an antidote to protect the oil transport pipes from corrosion at a lower cost.
In an interview with Rotana Khaleejiya, Rimas said his project was titled "Preparation of cationic nanocomposite compounds to be applied as antiperspirants and corrosion in carbon steel tubes and oil transport tools" .
She explained that the point transfer pipes sometimes suffered from corrosion because of the bacteria that infiltrated them during their penetration into the oil, which caused bumps and holes in the pipes, which sometimes resulted in sedimentation. .
She explained that to solve this problem, a chemical derived from benzene inhibits the corrosion of bacteria and protects the tube because the petrol from petroleum derivatives, noting that innovation contributes to the service of the sector oil tanker by extending the life of the tube for a low financial cost.
Remas has recently qualified for the final phase of the National Olympiad of Scientific Creativity, "Creativity 2019", created by the King Abdulaziz Foundation and its men for talent and creativity, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, for the benefit of high school and high school students.
