The Road Safety Fair, currently being held in Riyadh, has introduced "virtual road signs" technology, which aims to replace traditional traffic signals with intelligent signals to reduce car traffic congestion and parking time. .
This technology, presented by the KACST pavilion at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), will put an electronic system in every car that identifies its location and will provide a small screen showing the driver's status (red, green and yellow) depending on the number of vehicles at the intersection.
If there are several cars at one of the intersections, the system will give the green signal (for public transport) of the car with the priority of access, then followed by the red signal will become green and so on until all cars automatically pass from the intersection.
The 2019 Road Safety Conference will be held from March 11th to 13th at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Riyadh, with the participation of several government and private entities and international experts, presenting the latest technologies and experiences in the field. road safety.
King Abdulaziz's city confirmed that virtual traffic light technology had helped reduce vehicle traffic times by 40 percent in the United States, pointing out that she was seeking to apply it in the city of Riyadh, to reduce congestion in the city, improve the quality of life and improve the competitiveness of Saudi cities.
