ArchiveA member of the Shura Council, Latifa Shaalan, confirmed that she and her colleagues had done everything in their power regarding the women's mandate requirements, stating that she and a member of the Council, Muhi Khalaf, had tried three times, but all their efforts had failed.

Shaalan said in a tweet on his Twitter account that the state's demands on women required a gradual political decision such as the previous decisions rendered by the guardian of the two holy mosques and his crown prince.

The Shura Council last week rejected a recommendation from the board member, Dr. Iqbal Dardari, asking the Interior Ministry to investigate the reasons for the delay in activating the 39, order of the Supreme Court "to ensure all parties concerned not to compel women to obtain the Treatment", when the recommendation does not reach the required majority.
