Associate Professor of Environmental Toxicology at King Abdulaziz University, Dr Ahmed Al-Ansari, said that the effect of frankincense on lung health is no different from smoking and hookah, noting that the inhaled dose determines the extent of damage.
Al-Ansari explained during his meeting with the program “Sabah Al-Saudia” on the channel “Saudi Arabia”, that one of the founders of environmental toxicology indicated that all substances are toxic, and that only the dose makes the difference and makes the substance toxic or non-toxic.
He added that exposure to frankincense and its prolonged inhalation causes health problems for the respiratory system, while its inhalation indirectly and to an acceptable extent reduces exposure to toxic substances, highlighting the need to modify practices and behaviors in its use.
