Your Majesties, Excellencies, Highnesses and the State,
Distinguished participants,
Peace, mercy and blessings from God:
We are pleased to welcome you to the Riyadh Summit, which is the second summit of this year, and we regret that we did not have a reception in Riyadh due to the difficult conditions we all face this year. We are very happy to see you all today and thank you for participating.
This year has been an exceptional year, as the new Corona pandemic was an unprecedented shock that affected the whole world in no time. In addition, this pandemic has caused global economic and social losses. Our peoples and our economies are still suffering from this shock, but we will do our utmost to overcome this crisis through international cooperation.
At our extraordinary summit last March, we pledged to mobilize urgent resources, and we all helped start the crisis with more than $ 21 billion to support global efforts to fight this pandemic.
We have also taken exceptional measures to support our economies by injecting more than eleven trillion dollars to support individuals and businesses.
Social safety nets have also been extended to protect groups at risk of losing their jobs and sources of income. And we have provided emergency aid to developing countries. This includes the G20 initiative to suspend debt service payments from low income countries.
Thus, it is our duty to rise together to the height of the challenge at this summit and to reassure our peoples and give them back hope by adopting policies to face this crisis.

Our overall goal is to seize the opportunities of the 21st century for all. Although the Corona pandemic has prompted us to quickly reorient our attention to deal with its effects, the main axes that we have placed under this general objective – empowering people, preserving the planet and shaping new horizons – remain essential to overcome this global challenge and shape a future. The best for our people.
In the near future, we must address the vulnerabilities that have emerged in this crisis, while working to protect lives and livelihoods.
We are encouraged by the progress made in the research of vaccines, treatments and diagnostic tools for the coronavirus, but we must work to create the conditions that allow equitable and affordable access to these to provide them to all people. . At the same time, we need to better prepare for future epidemics.
We must continue to support the global economy and reopen our economies and the borders of our countries to facilitate the flow of trade and people.
We need to provide support to developing countries in a coordinated manner, in order to sustain the development gains made over the past decades.
In addition, lay the foundations for strong, sustainable and inclusive growth.
We must work to offer everyone, especially women and young people, opportunities to strengthen their role in society and in the labor market, through education, training, job creation, support for entrepreneurs , strengthening financial inclusion and reducing digital divides between individuals.
And we must create the conditions to create a more sustainable economy. We have therefore promoted the principle of the circular carbon economy as an effective approach to achieve our climate change goals and ensure cleaner, more sustainable and affordable energy systems.
We must lead the international community in preserving and protecting the environment.
In this context, we call to fight against land degradation and to preserve coral reefs and biodiversity, which gives a strong indication of our commitment to preserve the planet.
Recognizing that trade is an essential engine for the recovery of our economies, we have endorsed the Riyadh Initiative on the Future of the World Trade Organization, with the aim of making the multilateral trading system more capable of meeting the challenges current and future.

The leaders of the G20 countries first met twelve years ago in response to the financial crisis, and the results have been the best testimony to the fact that the G20 is the most important forum for international cooperation and for deal with global crises.
Today we are working together again to tackle another deeper global crisis that has plagued people and the economy.
I am convinced that our joint efforts during the Riyadh summit will lead to significant and decisive effects and the adoption of economic and social policies which will restore confidence and hope to the peoples of the world.
